    1. Low digit license plates are a weird culture in Delaware. Auction sales of tags in the single digits have received over $100k bids. This website is one man’s chronicle of photographing each plate up to the number 3000 [TheDelaware3000.org](https://thedelaware3000.org/)

    2. Did you catch the license plate number of the car that hit you?
      – “Nine” – Oh, my Aunt is German as well

Let me guess, a lawyers wife Karen with 1.29 kids and a snickerdoodle she hates that’s also a realtor in between her yoga and mimosas but somehow feels the need for a short bus to drive said 1.29 kids to the nanny (and no they don’t car pool to soccer etc, looks like freakin gmc dealership in the parking lot).

    4. Omg! Wild! I just saw a Rhode Island plate for the first time the other day in WA state! I think it was one of the upgraded, cute ones though, and wasn’t a single digit lol

Edit: TIL single digit plates are weirdly sought-after thing? There’s crazy high bids for them in auctions. Thanks, fellow commenters!

TIL that not all states reserve the low-digit plates for elected/appointed officials and legislators.

For all I know, the ones that used to don’t any more either.

    6. I don’t approve of the haphazard application of registration stickers. This in combination with the single digit plate number is very unsettling.

    7. The phrase ‘Rhode Island Nine’ sounds too much like ‘Rock Island Line’. Now I have to go listen to old country music for an hour. Dang it!

Worked with a guy who’s uncle was governor of IL long time ago and his aunt was assigned #2. The guy was trying to buy the plate from his cousin who currently had possession of it.

    9. See them all the time in Richmond, VA. Lots of families have been here for generations and were among the first to buy and register vehicles and so I routinely see single, 2 and 3 digit plates which I never see elsewhere in the state.

My aunt‘s neighbor was Mike Colalillo, and he had a CMH with a big number 2. doesn’t really get much lower than that

Why would anyone want a license plate that makes it EASIER to remember and be identified

    12. Dispatch: proceed with the license plate number..
      Deputy: 9
Dispatch: please repeat the plate number.
      Deputy: 9!
Dispatch: Sorry, you’re cutting out or something. All I’m getting is a 9.
